The fringes of Hurricane IreneFolly Beach, SC
This hurricane was supposed to be coming straight over South Carolina, with Charleston right in the middle of things.  Comparisons were being made to Hurricane Hugo of 1989, and it caused mild panic in the Charleston area.  However, it ended up getting pulled east and Charleston was spared.  The most we got was high winds and strong rains, especially at Folly and other beaches, where waves got as high as 13 feet.
